Dear Travis

Posted under Letters

Dear Travis,

Yeah I was just thinking last night how days just come and go and no phone calls or emails or facebook or nothing (I know that’s bad grammar, but it’s what I wanted to say) (that may happen a few more times in this, uh, letter, if you can call it that).

Well let’s see here, Laura came up Thursday the 11th through Sunday the 14th. We had a great time. It had been a whole month since I saw her. I was dying for a visit. We went camping, hiked some trails, biked, cooked dinner (after camping), watched some football, saw a movie (burn after reading, do not go see), went to BJ’s (which our BJ’s up here kills the one in Orlando, tell Gabe that please) to name a few of our adventures.

The day she left was the day the wind storms hit. We were actually eating lunch after church when the wind really kicked up. This was the last place I thought I’d move and be affected by a hurricane, go figure. Her flight got delayed an hour which was nice. Our power went out Sunday just after the Colts came started, which was a big blow for my roommate Aaron who is a huge colts fan. 5300 power lines down, 277 telephone polls down or broke, 300000 or so people without power, IN EFFING LOUISVILLE! Unbelievable. Well power came back on Tuesday at 2 am. There are still a lot of roads blocked and people without power, but its coming along nicely. Schools is canceled for the week, which is actually not a good thing for me. It gets me out of the swing of things, you know?

Okay, job front. I turned down the job at the Hyatt for a job at Snappy Tomato Pizza. I’m delivering pizza. Yeah it’s actually a pretty cool job. It’s flexible, the manager already likes me, it’s actually better paying than the valet job, and less stressful. I worked my first full night last night, 5 to close (11pm, but I didn’t get out of there until a little after midnight). I made 69 dollars and 27 cents in tips and commission ($1.50 per delivery, $2.50 if it’s a hotel), plus $6.55 an hour, so not a bad night.

You’d be proud, and jealous, but mainly proud I’m playing intramural basketball. I bought some basketball shoes, they’re awesome. They’re Nike AirMax, read and black high tops. Laura flew in last Thursday and then we went to my game, which was forfeited (we won), but we still played a pick up game and I played the best I’ve ever played. I got there ten minutes late (two 20 minutes halves with a running clock except the last minute of each half) and still scored 24 points. I made my first seven or eight shots, it was awesome.

School is awesome. It is so challenging, lots of reading so far and even more to come. You’d excel at the reading part. The professors are serious about following after God here, its encouraging to see their hunger and thirst for God.

It seems like you’re loving RPC and all that goes along with it, that’s good to hear. I hope Kristen, Olivia, and Will are doing great as well. Tell Gabe and Em I say hey if you see them soon, I’ll probably talk to Gabe soon. So Gabe and Megan huh? Wow, never saw that coming.

Well here’s my thirty minutes or so carved out for a letter. Talk to you later.

Love you guys and miss you,

Jack
